The Suddenlies for 2014

II Chronicles 29:36 “And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

As I sought the Lord for 2014, the scripture in II Chronicles became a focus for next year.  The Lord has prepared many things for us in this next season.  For years I have heard the statement, “The Lord is preparing us for what He has already prepared for us.”  Perhaps we are NOW ready to possess and occupy what has been stored up for us as stewards of the mysteries and storehouses of God.

Song of Solomon 7:13 “The mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, both new and old, that I have stored up for you, my beloved.”

Psalms 31:19 “How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you.”

This storehouse of anointing, supply, revelation, authority, harvest, and destiny is now being opened to those who have stood the test, held their ground, fought the good fight, laid at the foot of cross, and sacrificed that which was personally precious to them for the sake of the King and His Kingdom.  The doors previously shut are now opening to reveal the stored up blessings now being accessed.   This expansion and enlargement begins internally and demonstrates externally into the natural realm.

Break Open the Alabaster Box!

Alabaster Box

Expansion begins internally then manifests externally.  As we worship without fear, decree the Word of God with boldness not brashness or judgment, we will penetrate and change the atmosphere with the Word of God.  As we pour out our lives, honoring the one who gave us life, freedom will spread to our atmosphere and our old enemies will surface and flee in the Presence of a holy God.  The restoration of God-consciousness that was lost in the garden of Eden will replace the self-consciousness of sin and the fear of God will replace the fear of man.  This is exactly what happened at the house of Simon in Bethany when the worship box was opened.

Mark 14:3-9 And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure nard very costly; and she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head. But there were some that had indignation among themselves, saying, To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made? For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.  But Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.  For ye have the poor always with you, and whensoever ye will ye can do them good: but me ye have not always.  She hath done what she could; she hath anointed my body beforehand for the burying. And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.”

In this version of the Bible, the alabaster box is called a “cruse”.  I believe the “cruse” of the ointment of worship breaks the “curse” of self worship and weakens the idolatry of our culture.

Break Open the Mindsets of the Culture!

The way we think is so key (no pun intended) to opening that which has been stored up for us.  Proverbs 23:7a says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:” Notice that the heart is where the change in our thinking must begin.  If our hearts are hardened by sin and worldly concepts, then we must have the softening agent of the love of God.  The love of God is like the WD40 that removes the rust from the  hinges of the door to the heart.

How we think determines our perception of the world around us!  The story is told of the man who bought a ticket for a voyage across the ocean to America.  He spent all the money he had for the ticket.  He was befriended by another passenger who noticed that the man never came to any of the meals provided to all passengers.  At the end of the voyage when they were almost ready to leave the ship, the friend asked him why he never came to the table to eat.  His answer revealed a false perception. He had not known that the meals were included with the payment for his trip.  As the Lord reveals His abundance of grace to us, our perceptions must change to line up with the mind of the Lord.

Without the light of God’s word, darkness lingers.  We must not leave people in the darkness of cultural perception.  The Lord wants to release the “light of His gospel” through our words and actions to others.  Truth and tolerance are not good companions!  The world tells us to tolerate every lifestyle and every religion giving out the message that Biblical truth is judgment of others.  Judgment does not come because we hold up a standard of Truth; judgment comes from the internal choice of the human heart.

John 3:17-20 says, “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

The Word of God is the standard of Truth!  Light has come into the world, but the judgment comes because men turn away from the light, not because we speak about the light.  Loving a person does not mean we must tolerate their lifestyle or behavior by remaining silent about the Truth.  Without the standard of the Word of Truth, there is no rock to stand on and each person’s perception becomes their reality.  Reality according to Colossians 2 is found in Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.”

Truth spoken in love may be rejected at first by an unteachable heart, yet the Word of God will not return without accomplishing the purpose for which it was sent.   The Word of God is a hammer!  Jeremiah 23:29  “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”  The Word spoken in prayer; the Word spoken in love; the Word spoken into our culture, not as a hammer that crushes people, but as a hammer that breaks open resistant cultural mindsets, brings light and understanding to a dark world.

Breaking the Spirit of Pride!

Isaiah 48:3 “I have declared the former things from of old; yea, they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them: suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.”

For many years, the body of Christ has been divided, but suddenly unity of purpose will surface.  When our purpose is to build and advance His Kingdom rather than our own, we will stand side by side with others, doing our part as living stones, coming together as a spiritual house to contain the “glory of God”.

There is a shaking of the foundations of doctrinal pride allowing us to open our hearts to our brothers and sisters who love Jesus and recognize Him as the Savior of mankind.  Our “rightness” must be exchanged for His righteousness in order to join hands and hearts with the congregations down the street and across town.

Ezekiel 37:7 “So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.”

The power of the cross breaks the power of pride.  Performance Christianity is a treadmill that must be exited.  We obey out of love for our Master, not out of the hope of pleasing Him.  God is pleased that His Son dwells in us.  We die to our ability to perform to please Him, and simply allow Jesus to live through us by the power of His Holy Spirit.

I John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?”

As we recognize our need for the other parts of the body of Christ, we can reach out together in His harvest field to evangelize and disciple nations.

Breaking Chains of Bondage and Addiction!

Break the chains of addiction

There are multitudes in bondage to addiction, living lives of desperation beyond the doors of our churches.  They do not know what you know, nor do they know where to turn.  Their pain has been medicated and their pleas for help placated, because we have not had the power or revelation needed to free them.  That is changing.  The power of the gospel breaks every chain!  Suddenly He is coming with breakthrough for those others have given up on.  Deliverance does not come through our efforts, but by the power of Jesus Christ.  No longer will we have a “form of godliness, denying its power.”  But we will move in the power of God releasing prisoners from the dungeons of pain, trauma and addiction.  This is the year, 2014!

Acts 16:26 “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.”

Malachi  3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.”

Breaking the Hardness of heart!

Ezekiel 35:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.”

Do not give up on those whose hearts seem hardened to the gospel.  We will see those with stony hearts fall on their knees and cry out for salvation this year.  We cannot judge by what our eyes see or by what our ears hear, but trust that our prayers and the power of a loving God will convict and change them.

Isaiah 11: 2-4 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lordand he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.

Those we have “given up on” are being targeted by the Spirit of God.  Don’t forget the Apostle Paul was Saul of Tarsus who killed and persecuted Christians in the book of Acts until he had an encounter with the Lord and was knocked off his horse.  God can change the hardest heart.  Give Him prayers to work with and time to change those presently moving in the wrong direction.

Your life may be the only scripture being read by others.

II Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.”

Power breakthrough!

There will be power breakthroughs this year.  We will see healings break out in the strangest places, like the marketplace, the dinner table, the park, the workplace.  God is not limited to our “spiritual gathering places”.  He will come to show signs and wonders in our generation.

I have a dream that wheel chairs, crutches, bandages, braces, hearing aids, eye glasses, and stretchers will be left behind as the sick encounter the healing power of God.  Why not here?  Why not now?  Why not in America?

Acts 2:1-3 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.”

Psalms 103:2-5 “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,  who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,  who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Valley of Decision Opens!

Joel speaks of the valley of decision.  It is usually when we are in the low places of our lives that decisions are made.  This year, 2014, we will walk into those low places with people who need Jesus, offering them the entrance to the door of hope whose name is Jesus Christ.

Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.”

If you do not know an unsaved person, you need to reevaluate your life.  Find your harvest field!  It is waiting for you.  Rise up out of complacency, spectator Christianity, walk into the valley with someone, and become one of the laborers in the harvest that intercessors have been praying for.   Proverbs 10:5 “He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.”

This next year, 2014, is a year of suddenlies.  You will see many doors open before you.  Opportunities to advance the Kingdom in practical ways will suddenly appear on your path.  Be ready!  This is the year for the “silent knights” to release their voices declaring “peace on earth, good will to men!”  Share the good news!  Dream big dreams.  An exciting year is opening before us.
